Titanium dioxide is a white pigment that can be used for brightening up powders and foundations.
It can also be used as a mineral sunscreen. The fine pigment particles are not absorbed by the skin. They reflect the sunlight and thus protect the skin from UV-A and UV-B rays.

In soapmaking, titanium dioxide is used for lightening/whitening soaps.
