Excellent lipid replenishing agent for unruly hair! Isopropyl myristate (IPM) is an ester of myristic acid (C14), which is present in many plant- or animal-based fats: palm oil, butter, coconut oil. This component is often used in hair care, as it spreads easily and has excellent re-fattening properties. Thus, it makes unruly hair easily manageable, soft and handy. Isopropyl myristate is also used in skin care and lip care products. Additionally, Isopropyl myristate is used as a solubilizing agent, e.g. to dissolve essential oils in water. IPM is a very clear, oily liquid with very low viscosity that can easily be processed in water-based as well as oil-based products.
