For preserving and regulating natural moisture in skin and hair Elastin is manufactured from gluten, a wheat ingredient. It is a chemical compound of protein and sugar - a glycoprotein hydrolyzate. Elastin is well-tolerated by the skin. It stabilizes the skin's acid mantle, and thus supports the conservation of moisture in skin and hair. Additionally, it regulates the moisture content. If added to shampoos and shower gels, it reduces the effect of anionic surfactants, makes them skin-friendlier. It gives shine and volume to the hair, and protects its structure when colored or blow-dried.
