Everything is becoming more expensive ? except lysolecithin! Lysolecithin (affectionately called LL) is an old friend from Hobbythek times: Fluidlecithin BE. LL is a hydrophilic emulsifier suitable for oil in water as well as water in oil emulsions. It contains appr. 15% phospholipids and is very skin-friendly. Thus, lysolecithin is very versatile to use. LL is easy to process and works in acid as well as alkaline formulas. It can be dissolved in the warm aqueous or oily phase. If used in the first way, the result will be a true oil-in-water emulsion. The second method will create a mixed emulsion with a strong tendency to o/w emulsion. You can also use LL as a cold-process emulsifier (additional dosing or shaken lotion). Lysolecithin has the color of honey ? emulsions will turn vanilla yellow. It has an unobtrusive odor. It tolerates rapid cooling.
