Soft and silky mango butter, for your skin! The mango tree (Mangifery indica) grows mainly in the tropical regions of South Asia and can reach a height of 10 to 45 meters. It belongs to the sumac family. Its flowers have a lily-like fragrance. In India, the mango has been cultivated as a crop plant since more than 4.000 years. In India and on the Philippines, the fruit that can weigh up to 2 kg are a national fruit. In these countries, the large and heavy kernels are pressed for mango butter. Mango butter is white-beige, and almost odorless. Its melting point is higher than that of shea butter, and it is almost as firm as cocoa butter. Mango butter contains high amounts of palmitic acid and oleic acid. It helps the skin to retain moisture, makes it soft and smooth. Mango butter is a versatile consistency enhancer: use it in creams, lotions, hair care products and lip balms.
