Black is a pigment: finely ground, microscopically small powdered granules.
If added to a carrier substance like cream, the fine granules will distribute if stirred. If you add more dark brown, the mixture will thicken and become more opaque. The covering effect can be enhanced by adding white pigments: zinc oxide, talcum
