Our berry wax is made from the fruit of the Chinese laquer tree Rhus verniciflua. It is a pale yellow, pure plant wax supplied as pellets. Berry wax has a melting point of app. 52° C, lower than bees wax. Other than beeswax, it does not form such a noticeable film on the skin once applied. Berry wax is a wax that is easy to emulsify, and is suited for water-in-oil as well as oil-in-water emulsions. It is a favorite for making lip care products: lip balm and lip gloss. If melted in castor oil, it shows a slightly transparent, gel-like texture especially suited to lip gloss.
