Cranberry oil is obtained from the seeds of Vaccinum macrocarpon, a shrub related to our native lingonberry (Vaccinum vitis-ideae). Therefore, it is often incorrectly sold under the name "lingonberry oil". Cranberries belong to the heather family; they are cultivated mainly in North America. The fruit are processed for compote or juice. The seeds are pressed for oil. Cranberry oil is one of the most precious "fruit" oils, as it contains a high amount of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids (appr. 35% each). Additionally, it contains a high amount of vitamin E (alpha and gamma tocopherol and gamma tocotrienol), making it a very stable oil with a long shelf life. This oil is especially suited for mature and dry skin. The high content of anti-oxidants helps protect the skin against damage due to environmental factors. Its unique composition is beneficial for skin regenerating processes, and reduces premature ageing of the skin. Cranberry oil is said to have anti-inflammatory properties, thus is it well suited for skin suffering from eczema or acne. You can use it in night creams as well as in day creams, as cranberry oil is absorbed well and leaves the skin soft and nurtured, but not greasy. Saponification value: 180-200 PRICE: 9,30€ VAT incl.
