Fiber made from gum arabic Gummar HT is a fibre made from gum arabic and consists of galactose, arabinose, rhamnose, and glucoronic acid ? a combination that cannot be metabolized by the human body. Gummar HT is special as it is obtained from gum arabic by granulation, resulting in a tasteless powder that will not swell. You can stir it into drinks or soups as additional fiber, or you can add Gummar HT to muesli, yogurt, vegetables or home made bread. In Africa, where it originates, gum arabic is added to food in large amounts to keep the digestion going. It is even used to treat intestinal infections by binding harmful bacteria.
