The natural thickener - organic! The carob tree belongs to the Caesalpinioideae and is a legume. In Europe, it grows mostly in the Mediterranean. It is a drought-resistant tree with hard wood and has many uses. Its long (up to 30 cm), brown, hard, fleshy husks contain 10 to 15 black, hard seeds. These are ground to make carob flour. This flour is white to beige in color, and tasteless. It consists of the mostly indigestible sugars galactose and mannose. It can bind up to 100 times of its weight in water and thus stabilizes emulsions. It can be processed warm or cold. In cosmetics, it is used to thicken lotions, shampoos or fluids.
