The raw material for shaving soaps! Stearic acid belongs to the higher saturated fatty acids (C18). Stearic acid is offered as white, tasteless and odourless pellets. Next to palmitic acid, it is the most frequently occurring fatty acid in animal fats (as glycerol stearate). But vegetable fats, e.g. hazelnut oil or cocoa butter, also contain high amounts of it. Similar to these fats, pure stearic acid produces smooth and firm soaps. As it also has a foam-stabilising effect, it is an indispensable raw material for shaving soaps.
