This viscous, dark balm does not dry out and has a light vanilla and cocoa bean note. The warm and slightly smoky scent helps to relax and invites to dream. Peru balm is extracted from the trunks of Myroxylon balsamum. This tree is indigenous in central and south America. The viscous balm contains up to 70 percent benzyle ester of benzoic and cinnamic acid, free cinnamic acid, resin, vanillin and coumarin. It can be allergenic and should not be used over long periods of time in skin care products. Peru balm is a nice and long lasting scent for soaps.
