Ingenious skincare from the Amazon rainforest Cupuacu is obtained from a wild plant growing in the Amazon rainforest which is closely related to cocoa; its name is Theobroma grandiflorum. The fat it yields is wonderful for skin care products. Cupuacu butter has a high content of vitamin E and phytosterols. It regulates the skin`s lipid production. In the Amazon region, this butter is also used for wound treatment. Cupuacu moisturizes skin and hair, makes the hair soft and the skin supple. It is very useful for adding texture to home made skin creams, and can be used like cocoa or shea butter. In the Amazon region, cupuacu is also used for cooking.
